FAQs

How big is my hook-up pitch?

Our Standard hook-up pitches are 7m x 8m in size. We do have a limited number of Large 6m x 12m pitches for live-in vehicles in the Lively camping area only. Pitch sizes are approximate. We endeavour to make pitch sizes as exact as possible but occasionally your pitch might be slightly over or under the specified size.

My vehicle / tent is too large to fit on my hook-up pitch, is this OK?

No. We’re afraid that your ENTIRE CAMP, including your vehicle, must fit onto your pitch. If your camp including vehicle won’t fit onto the pitch, you will need to purchase an additional pitch or upgrade to a larger pitch. Due to restrictions with cables and electrical distribution, all hook-up pitches are situated in blocks, meaning the pitches either side of yours will be occupied by another hook-up user. This means if your camp doesn’t all fit onto your pitch, you’ll be encroaching on your neighbours!

Can my friends camp with me if they don’t have a hook-up?

Unless your friends’ camp can fit onto your pitch with you, we’re afraid that they will have to set up camp in the non electric areas nearby. If you’d still like to be camped next to one another then your friends will need to book a hook-up pitch too. Due to restrictions with cables and electrical distribution, all hook-up pitches are situated in blocks, meaning the pitches either side of yours will be occupied by another hook-up user. This means if your camp doesn’t all fit onto your pitch, you’ll be encroaching on your neighbours!

Please note only ONE live-in vehicle is permitted on each pitch.

Can I save a hook up pitch for my friends if they are arriving later than me?

Simply put - no. We fill the site on a first come, first served basis so if you'd like to be pitched next to your friends with the same ticket type, you'd need to arrive to the campsite at the same time. Saving of pitches is not permitted.

Where are the hook-up pitches?

There are hook-up pitches in Family, Lively and Disabled areas. Please follow the signage on arrival to be directed to the appropriate hook-up area.

Can I choose where I pitch?

Pitches are filled systematically, with the pitches closest to the circuit being filled up first. Please follow the relevant signage to your area and follow the direction of the stewards.

I’ve purchased an electric hook up ticket (tents). What do I need to bring with me to connect electricity to my tent?

  • We provide 1no. 16 amp single phase CeeForm female socket on the corner of each pitch, which has an allowance of 8 amps per pitch.
  • Tent campers should provide a suitable cable to facilitate their hook up from the pitch side distribution board. This cable should be a 16a single phase CeeForm plug (blue) with an appropriate grade of double insulated, three core outdoor cable, 2.5mm or better (twin and earth is not acceptable). The other end of the cable should be a 13a socket with some form of protection, electrical and mechanical. Ideally the cable should be 25m +/- 2m in length.
  • Live-in vehicle campers should provide a cable that again is double insulated, three core and of an outdoor grade that has a 16a single phase CeeForm socket on one end and plug on the other. A minimum of 2.5mm cable is necessary for 16amps.

How much power can I draw from my hook up?

You can draw 8 amps; as we have temporary diesel generators rather than mains power, we have to restrict the usage somewhat. You could run a kettle or heater or shower (for example) but not all at the same time. If you use too many items the power will trip.

I’ve purchased my camping ticket but I want to add an electric hook up- can I?

Yes, if we have some available! They tend to sell out quickly as there limited numbers. You can purchase extra tickets online; please refer to our event specific web pages to book.

Important safety information

Anyone using a 13a socket should ensure that they are kept off the ground, under cover and away from liquids of any kind. A guide to power usage is attached below so that you can calculate the draw on your supply.
